Politics is hell! Here is a bit I just wrote. If you can see how important freedom is to being able to survive, you have to get involved in politics. I hope Canadians get the analogy...
I suddenly had a vision that explains Harper's style of government. He is a hockey coach and the goal is for his team to win the Stanley Cup ( a majority). He has bullhorn Baird as his Domi, the guy you send in to scrap and take penalties when needed. He has certain team players that are his stars and he has the farm team in the backbenchers, replacing hurt players(all the scandels have taken out Day and others permanently, so you know harper is a hard coach). If this was the NHL it would be like Harper is the coach of the Leafs while at the same time CEO of the NHL so he can manipulate things so his team wins. The problem is , just like the Leafs, they choke every season and are let off early to get their golf game up. Kind of like when Harper prorogued government twice! Don't get me wrong, I am a leafs fan, but over the decades of them ALMOST getting in and losing at the last second has made me a numb (dumb?) fan. That is kind of how I see the CON's. I was a person who would have voted for Mike Harris (I was managing a resturant at the time and had no one to take over so I could vote) based on all the promises and good ideas he had. I am so glad today to say I did not vote for him because his slash and burn style hurt everyone including the environment. Harper has tried every trick in the book and have come up with new ones; now he has Senators and Cabinet Ministers in the penalty box and it is getting full with more waiting to join them. Just like a coach who has come close to the end of the game, has pulled out his goalie and is hoping for a last minute miracle while being wide open. The problem is(if I push this analogy a little further) Harper as CEO has been using the league's money to tell everyone how great the Leafs are while trying to chop all the other team's budgets. Even the Leaf fans can not stomach some of the things that the coach did , through his players and his tactics and many of them are asking that the coach retire. All the other fans on all the other teams also want him to retire or get forced to be managed by a group of the others teams(forced on them just to keep the sanctity of the good name of the NHL). As CEO he has made up rules and then turned around and broke them when it was to his advantage and his team's advantage. The Ref- Speaker of the House, has called penalties on Harper, after much arguing back and forth. That is the point we are at today. This NHL has gone downhill in the last 5 years and the other teams are doing everything they can to keep the good name of the NHL intact. The scandels will see some fans come out, but many fans have given up on the game as a huge farce. Can you imagine what it would be like if everyone who really loved the game came out in such great support for the other teams that, inspite of all the power trips and manipulations, the Leafs would have to disband and get renamed? As far as Harper is concerned the game is not over till it is over. Soon it will all be in the hands of the fans!
